Long waited for leonberger puppies
How long we have been waiting for these puppies! Rua Soleil Elsie Elora is the last female bred by me, with our prefix, born in our house, who is still in breeding, and therefore she is the only one to hope for the continuation of the Rua Soleil family. Somehow, lastly we did not have success with the leonbergers breeding, for the last 4 years there were essentially no litters. Last year, only single male puppy Marlon was born. It would be a pity to lose more than 20 years of breeding work, and then Elsie made us happy with these two babies on August 1. A female and a male were born - the sixth (!) generation of Rua Soleil direct descendants. Not everything went smoothly. Labor began a day too early - the 59th. The first puppy, a female, was born on her own, but with a small weight, then there was no labor activity for several hours, and we had to go to the clinic. On the ultrasound, they saw two more puppies, but without signs of a heartbeat - indications for a cesarean section. We took Elsie home in the evening with another ALIVE baby! After the puppy that was dead and blocked the birth canal, there was another male, alive and active. What a blessing that we managed to save his life!
The adventures did not end there. Elsie came out of anesthesia, began to lick the babies, but they cried constantly - there was no milk. After 12 hours, they began to lose weight, continued to cry. Elsie was worried, incessantly licked the babies, who did not have time to dry, but there was still no milk. I decided to take a desperate step - to bring the babies to Demetra, whose puppies were 6 days old at that time, and really, really asked her to give the little leos a chance to survive. Demetra slowly took the head of one of the puppies in her mouth and looked at me intently. My heart sank, and I once again pleaded with her - do not kill! We spent the day and night together in the puppy box, it was scary to leave them even for a minute. Demetra finally accepted two more babies! A day later she started feeding and licking them as if they were her own. Salvation!
Now we can say that we have an N-litter of leonbergers. The female's name is Norita (RS Never Gonna Give You Up), and the male's name is Norman (RS Nothing Else Matters). The father of the family is the Swedish Champion Lejonvinden's Hallelulja Moment (Simba). The birth of these babies would not have been possible without the support of Simba's breeder, Gunilla Hallgren, Simba's owner Ingegerd Rubertsson, the owner of Simba's frozen semen - Anna-Marie Krigh, and of course the veterinarians who performed the insemination and saved Elsie and the baby during childbirth. Many thanks!
