Rua Soleil Zhar-ptitsa - World Coursing vice-Champion!

We were honored to go to the World Coursing Championship - 2023 in Italian National team with our two borzois - Raskat and Pava. It has been our first experience to take part in such an event.
44 borzoi females and 18 males were entered. The parcour was quite challenging, 1000 m distance with many back turns and some non-transparent obstacles/ fences on the field. There were two different fields for the first and for the second runs and each dog has been assessed by 6 different judges, whose names were revealed only after the final results have been announced. Pava was on the 13 th position out of 31 participants after the first run, but difference in score among the dogs in the upper 1/3 of the table was not too high. The second run she has exceeded all my expectations! Even without knowing the final result yet I was absolutely satisfied and happy observing her great performance. We went to the award ceremony with a slight hope that she could be placed on the podium, maybe 6th...but no, the 6th place was taken by the Dannish female and our hopes evaporated. What a thunderstorm of emotions we had that day! When I heard:" the 2 nd place - Italy!!!", - I could not believe my ears. All Italian team cheered and screamed with joy so loud that I had to persuade Pava to go to the podium! World Coursing vice-Champion Rua Soleil Zhar-ptitsa made us happy and proud that day, receiving RCACIL and Swedish national certificate. It wad a double joy for me as a breeder and as an owner, because Pava is the first borzoi being bred by us and having Rua Soleil affix.
We cordially thank all the Italian team and its Captains for their trust and sharing wonderful moments of joy with us and all our friends for their support and greetings!
Lunnaja Raduga Russkiy Romance (Raskat) has demonstrated great willingness to run and pursue the lure, but due to a mistake and lower score in the 1st run ended up 14/18. He did not expect non transparent fence in the field, which he ran around from the right as his running companion was pursuing the lure from the left side. Suddenly the lure turned to the left and disappeared for a fraction of a second out of his sight being hidden by the fence. Raskat found it and continued the pursuit, but lost the scores. He has done absolutely logical manouver from the hunting point of view as borzois are working together in pairs or packs of 3, but coursing has its own rules of the game.
